The Donors & Doers Summit, organized by MFCF, runs Saturday, August 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to all ages.
The gathering is designed to connect nonprofit leaders, community builders, funders, families and emerging youth leaders. This year’s program deliberately reframes the idea of a “teen takeover” by highlighting young people as leaders, creators, storytellers, technologists, philanthropists and financial decision-makers.
Programming includes digital learning, storytelling, youth-centered financial education and direct interaction among donors, families and community leaders.
That is an encouraging narrative.
Young people are often discussed primarily in terms of problems that need solving. Programs like this begin from a different assumption: young people also possess ideas, abilities and leadership worth developing.
