A Wateford company has designed a special necklace in support of female police officers in metro Detroit and nationwide. For every “Back the Blue” necklace sold, retailing at $36, the company is donating a necklace to a female officer. Anyone can nominate an officer to receive a free necklace by visiting the company’s website at prettyhunter.com. The company, Pretty Hunter, has already donated hundreds of necklaces to female officers.
“We feel strongly about supporting and respecting police officers. They put themselves in harm’s way to serve and protect us every day.” Tricia Auten, founder and CEO of Pretty Hunter said in a statement. “The Back the Blue necklace is our way of supporting female law enforcement officials in the wake of recent events, and inviting the public to join us in this effort.”
One of Auten’s close friends is a police sergeant. Auten was inspired to create the Back the Blue necklace, following the police shootings in Dallas on July 7.
The Back the Blue necklace features a a dog tag style pendant with a spent 40-caliber bullet round surrounded by Swarovski crystals with a band of blue crystals across the middle, like the mourning band protocol for a fallen officer.
