University of Michigan President Dr. Mary Sue Coleman, Wayne State University President Allan D. Gilmour, and Michigan State University President Dr. Lou Anna K. Simon addressed the Detroit Economic Club Tuesday on concerns regarding the decreasing number of Michigan college graduates. “Everybody’s working very hard to make sure that there is connection of the talent with the opportunities to stay in Michigan,” said Coleman. Simon noted, “We’re committed to making sure that our graduates are competitive with any place in the world…we just want them to stay in Michigan.” Gilmour agreed. “We have overhauled our retention rates at Wayne State,” he said.
