The Treasure is at The Redford Theatre!

The Redford Theatre is a beautifully restored 1928 theatre with a Japanese outdoor garden interior, complete with a starry sky, which is owned and operated by the Motor City Theatre Society, an all volunteer non-profit organization. Ticket and concession prices are affordable to everyone. It’s a great place for a date, a group outing, or just to get away from it all. Unique atmosphere. Friendly volunteer staff. Come make a memory!

This weekend, the Redford Theatre is proud to present Humphrey Bogart in a much more typical rough, tough persona as he descends into greed and paranoia in the classic “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.” Starring with Bogart were Tim Holt and Walter Huston, the father of director John Huston. Both Hustons won Academy Awards (for direction and supporting actor) — a first for a father/son team. This film has become a classic and has been named one of the top movies of all time. Watch for the line from the Mexican outlaw chief that has become a famous movie quote. Mel Brooks reprised it in his western parody “Blazing Saddles.”  Performances are Friday, Septmber 9 at 8:00 pm and Saturday, September 10 at 2:00 and 8:00 pm. The feature will be preceded by a Warner Brothers cartoon, “Bacall to Arms” — and you will want to arrive a half hour early for live music on the fabulous Barton Theatre Pipe Organ.
