The Charlie Sanders Scholarship Foundation

The Charlie Sanders Scholarship Foundation, originally uploaded by FatherDalton.

Charlie Sanders, former Detroit Lion and Pro Football Hall of Fame
inductee, has begun a scholarship program to benefit high school
students in Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township, as well as
Monroe County and his home state of North Carolina. As of August 1,
2011, the scholarship has awarded $18,700 to deserving students.

In conjunction with the Rochester Community House, the scholarship
foundation will be planning events and other fundraising activities to
raise money for deserving young people here in our own area. In
addition, Charlie has designated all proceeds from the sale of his
own-recipe “Gridiron Gourmet Barbecue Sauce” to be given to the
scholarship foundation.

Not only that, but schools and fundraisers can purchase the sauce at
special rates to use in their own fundraising activities: sports clubs,
teams, school groups, other non-profit groups, really anyone who needs
to raise money. And the money used to purchase the sauce goes to the
Charlie Sanders Scholarship Foundation, so it’s a win-win situation.
