Shalom Street Museum Opens – “Tales of Our Tribes” Exhibit
The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit’s Shalom Street’s new exhibit, “Tales of Our Tribes,” will run through January 30, 2012. This interactive children’s museum is free and open to the public.
“Tales of Our Tribes” has transformed Shalom Street into the streets of ancient Israel. Designed by Jennifer Maiseloff, “Tales of Our Tribes” allows guests the chance to explore and discover the history of the Twelve Tribes of Israel and their own history. Visitors can make their family crest, become one of the “Kings of Israel,” create a comic book, express their dreams in art, experience life as an ancient trader and more.
In addition to the exhibits, “Tales of Our Tribes” will feature special programs and events, including actors starring as Joseph and his brothers and performing scenes from “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
Shalom Street is located inside the JCC at 6600 W. Maple Road in West Bloomfield.
