Pi Day, held each year on March 14, is a holiday dedicated to one of math’s most special numbers — 3.14, the ratio of a circle’s circumference that goes on for trillions of decimal places. But aside from that, it’s also a day to enjoy some really great pie. Pot Pies, fruit pies, pizza pies — there’s plenty of ways to celebrate. Here’s where to find holiday specials in metro Detroit.
Grand Traverse Pie Co.
Grand Traverse Pie Co., which serves up a top-notch selection of cherry pies, is celebrating Pi Day by offering a free slice of its Michigan ABC Crumb Pie with any purchase. The pie features a toasty crump topping and is made with Montmorency cherries, Rubel blueberries, and Northern Spy apples — all grown in Michigan — and sugar and flour from the Mitten State as well.
