International dance superstar Rasta Thomas brings his Bad Boys of Dance to the Detroit Opera House for two performances, October 29-30, 2011. From dancing on catwalks at New York’s fashion week to appearing on “Dancing with the Stars,” the Bad Boys’ amazing versatility and talent push the bounds of dance with athletic jumps, endless turns and endearing individuality. The performances, part of the Maggie Allesee Dance Series, mark thecompany’s Detroit premiere.
The Bad Boys will perform their hit show “ROCK the Ballet,” which includes routines to music from the Black Eyed Peas, U2, Journey, and Michael Jackson, among many others. “ROCK the Ballet” was choreographed by Adrienne Caterna-Thomas, the company’s associate artistic director, who appears on stage alongside the six Bad Boys.
Founded in 2007 by dance star Rasta Thomas, the Bad Boys have performed on Broadway, in feature films, and been adored by millions on hit TV shows. In 2010 they performed at Carnegie Hall with Sir Elton John for a charity event alongside Lady Gaga, Sting and Bruce Springsteen, and this year they made a special guest appearance on “So You Think You Can Dance.” The company had the distinct honor of performing at the opening ceremonies of the USA International Ballet Competition and now gives more than 150 shows a year for fans worldwide.
A free talk with the artists begins one hour prior to each performance.
