The Players Guild of Dearborn is proud to close out its 95th season with Harvey Fierstein and Jerry Herman’s “effervescent and eclectic” musical La Cage Aux Folles!
After 20 years of partnered bliss, Georges and Albin, two men partnered for better or worse, get a bit of both when Georges’ son (fathered during a one-night fling) announces his impending marriage to the daughter of a bigoted, right-wing politician. Further complicating the situation is the “family business”: Albin and Georges run a drag nightclub in St. Tropez, where Albin is the star performer, “Zaza.” Georges reluctantly agrees to masquerade as “normal” when he meets the family of the bride-to-bride. But Albin has other plans, with hilarious results. La Cage Aux Folles is a spectacular, surprising, and universally heartwarming tale about understanding, acceptance, and family- in all its forms.
The production is directed by Jerry Haines, music directed by Paul Abbott, and choreographed by Val Mould. The cast is led by Sam Ramirez as Albin, Russell Boyle as Georges, Tarrell Pearson as Jean-Michel, John LoPorto as Jacob, Madison Ganzak as Anne Dindon, Tony Primeau as Edouard Dindon, Rebecca Borsodi as Marie Dindon, Juliette Delabbio-Abbott as Jacqueline, Tim Carney as Renaud, Jackie Abercrombie as Madam Renaud, Matthew Rindfleish as Francis, and Becky Dodd-Sherry as Collette. The Cagelle ensemble is made up of Sebastian Adams, Josh Beurer, David Culliton, Jair Alexander, Casey Coulter, Odera Office, Mo Thomas, Lauren Danke, Lily Zhang, and Lark Haunert.
The show opens on Friday, May 5th and runs for three weekends through Sunday, May 21st. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8:00 PM, Sundays at 2:30 PM. Tickets cost $22 and can either be purchased at our box office or online at https://ci.ovationtix.com/35949/production/1122752.
