Old Newsboys’ Goodfellow Fund to begin annual campaign for holiday gifts

Members of the Old Newsboys’ Goodfellow Fund of Detroit will begin their annual campaign to raise money toward holiday gifts for children.

A holiday tradition in the Motor City, members will be selling their special edition newspaper to ensure their mission of “No kiddie without a Christmas.”

The sales day starts at 6 a.m. Monday. Detroit police officers and firefighters will take to the streets to sell “Goodfellow editions” of The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press at different locations across the city.

Newspapers are sold for any donation amount – that money will go toward providing holiday gift packages to 30,000 children in need.

Then, at 10 a.m., the Goodfellows parade steps off from the Guardian Building at the corner of Griswold and Congress. This year’s parade will feature the marching band from the Detroit School of Arts.
