The Dresner Foundation has made a $3.5 million gift to the Michigan Humane Society to support operations at its new animal care campus in Detroit.
To recognize the gift, the Michigan Humane Society said it has named the $15.5 million center the Dresner Foundation Animal Care Campus.
Opened in March, about a year and a half after the nonprofit broke ground, the new campus at 7887 Chrysler at Clay Street provides progressive animal care and housing. It includes an expanded veterinary center, dedicated canine and feline rehabilitation areas, a secure shelter dog play yard and the MHS Cruelty Investigation and Rescue Department.
The new facility will not only ensure the highest quality of care for animals but also serve as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization and economic development, Dresner Foundation CEO Kevin Furlong said in a release.
