The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit’s IRP (Institute for Retired Professionals) will host J.P. Dessel for the Annual Lucas Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 28 at the JCC, 15110 W. Ten Mile Road in Oak Park.
Professor Dessel, a visiting professor in Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan, specializes in history and archaeology of the eastern Mediterranean and the ancient Near East. He will discuss “Israelite Ethnogenesis: from the Village People to the Chosen People.” The talk will be followed by a dessert reception.
