A pair of “Hamilton” actors will help tutor young Detroit theater students this summer.
Jonathan Christopher and Nikisha Williams will be part of Michigan Opera Theatre’s “Operetta Remix,” a week-long musical theater program in August for area teens to instruct in singing, acting and dance.
Rising soprano star Cecilia Violetta Lopez and MOT’s Suzanne Mallare Acton will also take part in the workshops, to be held Aug. 3-7 via Zoom. The program was to have been held at the Detroit Opera House.
Christopher and Williams are part of the “Hamilton” touring company scheduled to bring the hit show to the Fisher Theatre next spring.
“Operetta Remix” is for students ages 13 to 18. Its sister program, “Create & Perform,” for kids 8 to 12, will run Aug. 10-14. Registration fees are $150 for both programs.
