Calling all School Art Departments!
One of the main goals established by event founder, Blair M. Bowman, owner and operator of the Suburban Collection Showplace, is to encourage the participation of young students interested in the arts at all grade levels; a project we have labeled Generation Next. The intent is to provide a venue for students to display their work and to teach them an appreciation for the operations of a fine art show by offering the opportunity to interact with members of the art community.
The first Great Lakes Art Fair took place in April 2009, and the Generation Next project was launched with great success! The Generation Next project displayed numerous student art works throughout the show floor for patrons and fellow artists to enjoy for the duration of the show. It was the first step taken by the Great Lakes Art Fair to add a venue for the art community to celebrate young artists.
