Troy’s premier orchestra, the Troy Metro Symphony Orchestra, has been a fixture in the community for the past 20 years. From its origin, the orchestra’s desire was to make symphonic music accessible to all. Led by Music Director Travis Cook, TMSO performs six concerts in the Troy-metro area each year, completely free of charge.
This spring, TMSO will share its musical legacy in three memorable anniversary concerts throughout Sterling Heights & Troy.
Our theme for the spring is “A Symphonic Legacy, by God’s Grace,” and the repertoire will reflect the legacy (both past and future) of TMSO.
The night will have some unexpected surprises as you listen to a concerto performance from TMSO’s 2025 Young Artists Concerto Competition, a newly commissioned contemporary piece, and … a TYPEWRITER solo!
We will give a nod to TMSO’s roots with four hymns & some singing, as well as a piece by Leroy Anderson (one of our founder’s favorite composers). The new commission written by local composer Maria Lord-Kniveton will also tell the story of her family’s legacy through music.
We hope you’ll add this incredible concert to your calendar, and we look forward to seeing you there. Admission is free. However, donations are greatly appreciated. Children are always welcome! Physical tickets are not required for admittance.
