Each fall, the Detroit chapter hosts a massive community-wide bike collection effort. Residents donate thousands of outgrown or unused bikes, which are brought to a large donated warehouse space in the city. Over several weeks, hundreds of volunteers—experienced mechanics, corporate groups, high schoolers, and neighbors from all walks of life—roll up their sleeves to clean, repair, and restore every bicycle.
