Fire & Ice Festival in Downtown Rochester

The annual Fire & Ice Festival in Downtown Rochester, Michigan is set to heat up the winter chill on January 16 and 17, 2026, with two days of family-friendly fun, food, and spectacular ice artistry. This beloved winter tradition transforms the heart of downtown into a lively celebration where the frosty season becomes an opportunity for community gathering and creative expression. Sponsored by Chief Financial Credit Union and Rochester Mills Beer Co., the festival offers free admission to the public, inviting residents and visitors alike to enjoy a wide range of cool — and “hot” — attractions.

One of the draws of the Fire & Ice Festival is its impressive display of ice sculptures scattered throughout the streets of downtown. Talented artists carve huge blocks of ice into intricate works of art, and attendees can even watch a live ice carving competition on Saturday afternoon. From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., spectators will see raw ice transformed into stunning figures, showcasing both skill and imagination in the brisk winter air.

In addition to the ice art, the festival offers a variety of other attractions designed for all ages. A warming tent provides a cozy retreat where guests can rest and sample offerings from local food vendors, while a Taste Fest and food truck rally serve up delicious winter fare along East Third and Water Streets. Little ones can delight in the Snowzilla Jr. Slide and Frosty the World’s Tallest Bounce House, while a synthetic skating rink invites everyone to glide around and enjoy active winter play.

The Rochester Lions Club contributes to the festive atmosphere with marshmallow roasting and other warm, interactive experiences that bring families together around crackling flames. These simple pleasures, paired with creative food options and upbeat crowd energy, help make the festival an immersive celebration of both community and the season itself.

To cap off the weekend, the festival will feature a fireworks display on Saturday night at 8:00 p.m., lighting up the winter sky and adding a “fiery” finale to the frosty festivities. Held in the lots behind Rochester Mills Beer Co. and the Farmers’ Market area near E. Third and Water Street, the Fire & Ice Festival provides a unique way for people of all ages to embrace winter while supporting local businesses and artists.
