Fanatics halts MLB jersey production to make masks, gowns

It’s supposed to be Opening Day, and Fanatics surely would be booming with new baseball orders.

But the coronavirus pandemic has changed everybody’s plans.

So the online retailer called its own audible, stopping production of official MLB jerseys to produce gowns and masks to be distributed to Pennsylvania workers on the front line helping everyone battle COVID-19. Executive chairman Michael Rubin modeled some of Fanatics’ efforts in a Twitter thread.

The plan is to make 1 million and distribute them to hospitals and emergency personnel.
