Saturday 10/8; Workshop 11 am; Performance 1 pm
For the premiere of The Wright Museum’s Family Performing Arts Series and in honor of late October’s El Dia de Los Muertos, Mexican Dance Ensemble Chicago will perform traditional Mexican folkloric dances that have been influenced by African cultural roots in Mexico. An accompanying workshop will feature traditional Mexican crafts of mini-sugar skulls and crepe paper flower making.
The Family Performing Arts Series, providing interactive workshops and visually fantastic performances that open the mind and eye to the relationship of African people all over the world, and in particular the African influence in the Western Hemisphere, ensures that African Diasporic arts are accessible and attractive to as wide an audience as possible.
Tickets are $15 / $12 for Museum members & youth (under 13); a family four-pack is available for $40.
