Grosse Pointe Theatre presents Disney’s Newsies the Musical, May 3-12, at Parcells School Auditorium, in Grosse Pointe Woods. Inspired by the Newspaper Strike of 1899 in New York City, Newsies, packed with wonderful songs and electrifying dances, is the tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy who led a group of young newsies to take on powerful publishing giants to fight for fair conditions. Newsies is an inspiring, joyful, and entertaining musical with a timeless message of justice and fairness for all. Join Grosse Pointe Theatre and the talented 37-member cast of Newsies as they share this family-friendly story of hope and humanity and help carry that sentiment forward by participating in a collection of items to support kids through Detroit Goodfellows. Collection bins will be in the lobby at each performance to accept the NEW toys and other items for kids that will be part of the gifts distributed by Detroit Goodfellows during the 2024 Christmas season.
