The third Dearborn Area Chamber Business Builder Breakfast of 2012 becomes a lunch for a special presentation by Canadian Consul General Roy Norton, Thursday, September 20 at 11:30 am, Dearborn Country Club, 800 N. Military, Dearborn. This lunch is sponsored by Oakwood Healthcare System.
“Bridging Opportunity” will be the focus of the Consul General’s remarks and will detail Michigan’s vital trade relationship with Canada—a relationship that is particularly important to many businesses in the Dearborn area. Norton’s remarks will also focus on the New International Trade Crossing, which has been featured prominently in the news media lately. The Canadian Consulate General, which Norton heads, promotes trade, investment, culture, the environment and immigration services among others. The Detroit-Windsor nexus is the busiest border crossing on the continent.
“Because many of our businesses are located within 25 miles of this international border crossing, and because of the strong, successful relationship with our neighbors, it is crucial that our membership have an opportunity to engage in future economic opportunities and have a voice in potential financial ramifications,” said Chamber President Jennifer Giering.
The Dearborn Chamber offers this breakfast/lunch series as an opportunity for members to engage with newsmakers and key opinion leaders who make significant impact on the business community. The Business Builder Lunch in September is the third of these events scheduled for 2012. Previous speakers included Ford Motor Company’s Alan Mulally, Governor Rick Snyder and U of M Athletic Director David Brandon.
