Christians at Work Summit; October 26th

On October 26th, the Livonia Civic Center Library in Livonia, Michigan will host a special Christian at Work event, focusing on how faith can redeem the workplace. The event will feature three national speakers who will share powerful stories of how God is working in professional environments across the country.

Mark Whitacre, an executive at Coca-Cola and the real-life subject of the film The Informant (portrayed by Matt Damon), will share his extraordinary testimony of redemption. Whitacre’s life was marked by scandal and moral compromise during his time as an executive at Archer Daniels Midland, but he found his faith in Christ during his time in prison. Today, he speaks about how God’s grace transformed his life and work.

Joining Whitacre will be Brian Grim, Founder of the Religious Freedom & Business Foundation, and Rob Mahon, National Director of the Navigator Workplace Ministry. These speakers will offer unique insights into how Christian faith can influence the business world and workplace culture. Additionally, the event will feature leaders from the Christian Employee Resource Group network, representing cities from Detroit to Grand Rapids, discussing the power of faith in workplace communities.

The event is grounded in the biblical understanding of work as part of God’s good and wonderful creation. Genesis 2:15 reminds us that God placed mankind in the Garden of Eden to work it and care for it. Although work has been corrupted by sin—filled with greed, anger, and envy—Christians have the opportunity to redeem their work and use it as a form of worship and service to God. Workplaces remain one of the few places where natural communities of both Christians and non-Christians can connect.

After the main event, there will be a Navigator Dinner, where guests will hear about the 91-year history of The Navigators. The dinner will include stories of evangelism and discipleship taking place among everyday workers and provide a chance to fellowship with others and learn how to get involved in this growing movement.
