Taking the bus from Livingston County to the Detroit Metropolitan Airport could soon be a possibility for county residents.
Indian Trails could provide service starting in October for three years. If approved by the Livingston County Board of Commissioners, the contract would be from Sept. 1 to Aug. 31, 2022 with the option to renew it for an additional two years.
Livingston Essential Transportation Service does not have the capability to provide the service but can contract with a third party for it.
“As the county grows, the roads are becoming more congested,” said Greg Kellogg, LETS director. “The goal is to offer citizens more options for commuting.”
Buses would come to the Meijer store park-and-ride station in Brighton, Kellogg wrote in a July 24 memo to the county commission. Buses would run 14 times a day between 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day of the year and stop at each of the airport’s terminals.
