Israeli singer Chava Alberstein, who has established an international reputation for her bright and memorable melodies, will perform in concert at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 6.
Alberstein, whose voice the Washington Post compared to that of Edith Piaf, has recorded dozens of albums, including six which received the Kinor David Prize, Israel’s equivalent of the Grammy. A true “artist of the world,” Alberstein has recorded music in English, Hebrew, French, Spanish and Yiddish.
“If we have a true folk singer, it is Chava Alberstein,” said Yediot Aharonot, Israel’s largest daily newspaper. The paper also named Alberstein – a singer, lyricist, composer and arranger – the most important female musician in Israeli history.
Tickets are $30 for Jewish Community Center members and $40 for non-members and may be purchased by calling The Berman, (248) 661-1900.
The Berman Center for the Performing Arts is located at 6600 W. Maple Road in West Bloomfield.
