By Rev. Richard Dalton, Metro Missionary
As a metro missionary—and an Anglican priest—I often find myself visiting churches of various traditions throughout the region. Each visit is a fresh opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of the body of Christ. Recently, my wife Theresa and I were graciously welcomed at Auburn Hills Christian Center on Walton Blvd. in the Rochester area. What we experienced there left a lasting mark on our hearts.
From the very beginning of the service, we both sensed something special: a deep and unmistakable presence of the Holy Spirit. The worship wasn’t just a warm-up to the sermon—it was ministry. Led by a devoted and Spirit-sensitive team, the worship lifted us heavenward. It wasn’t about performance; it was about entering the presence of God together as a family of faith.
We both came away saying the same thing: “We were being bathed in the Holy Spirit.”
A Spirit-Led Church Family
Auburn Hills Christian Center is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, a denomination known for its emphasis on Spirit-filled living, evangelism, and discipleship rooted in Scripture. That heritage was on full display during our visit. The preaching was bold, biblical, and timely. The people were welcoming. And the ministry time was full of prayer and a hunger for more of God.
It was clear that this congregation isn’t content with going through the motions—they are actively pursuing the presence and power of the Lord in every gathering. There was a clear sense of expectancy, joy, and unity among the people. The atmosphere encouraged faith to rise and hearts to open.
