Learn the true story of two incredible men in the Bible who shaped the world, including one who managed to live with 700 wives, when The Berman Center for the Performing Arts presents Marcus J. Freed in the one-man plays “Solomon: King, Poet and Lover: the Story of One Man and 700 Wives” at 9 p.m. Saturday, September 24, and “Elijah: First Action Hero” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 25.
A native of England, Freed is a classically trained actor, a studio-trained yogi, a master of comedy, a pianist, a juggler, a dancer and a surfer. He plays every role – including the 700 wives – in “Solomon” and “Elijah,” which already have been seen on stage in more than 20 countries. Both performances combine Shakespearean parody with comic irreverence and biblical wisdom.
Tickets, which cost $15 for each show or $25 for a ticket to both “Solomon” and “Elijah,” will be available at the door or may be ordered by calling The Berman Center for the Performing Arts at (248) 661-1900.
The performances are sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit’s SAJE (Seminars for Adult Jewish Enrichment) as part of the JCC Stephen Gottlieb Festival of the Arts.
