A Warm Welcome and a Higher Purpose at Heritage Church – Stoney Creek Campus

A Sunday visit to Heritage Church at the Stoney Creek campus in Rochester Hills turned out to be a deeply encouraging and joyful experience. Meeting in the auditorium of Stoney Creek High School, the atmosphere was immediately welcoming — from the friendly greetings at the door to the sense that people genuinely wanted you to be there. It felt less like attending an event and more like stepping into a community.

The worship music set a thoughtful, worshipful tone — uplifting without being showy, reverent without being stiff. It invited participation and reflection, drawing hearts upward while still feeling accessible to people from many walks of life. You could sense that this was a congregation accustomed to worshiping together, not just attending together.

One of the distinctive strengths of Heritage Church is its team-teaching approach, where pastors regularly “tag team” in the preaching. That spirit of shared leadership was evident, and it added both depth and energy to the message. This particular Sunday felt like a “king-size serving” of teaching — substantial, biblical, and engaging.

A special delight was seeing Dave Wilson preaching. Dave is well known in the Detroit area, having served for roughly two decades as a chaplain to the Detroit Lions, alongside a long and respected history in local pastoral ministry. His preaching reflected that depth of experience: grounded in Scripture, rich with real-life stories, and delivered with warmth and well-timed humor.

What stood out most was the clarity of the message — a compelling call to consider the highest, higher purpose in life. The sermon wove together Scripture, personal insight, and everyday application in a way that felt both challenging and hopeful. It wasn’t rushed, shallow, or abstract; it was the kind of teaching that gives you something to carry into the week ahead.

Heritage Church clearly aims to be a place where faith is lived out, not just talked about — where people are welcomed as they are and encouraged to grow into a deeper relationship with Christ. Our time at the Stoney Creek campus left us grateful, refreshed, and thankful for a church community that takes worship, Scripture, and purpose seriously — while never forgetting the power of kindness, laughter, and genuine connection.

For anyone in Rochester Hills or the surrounding area looking for thoughtful worship, strong biblical teaching, and a friendly church home, Heritage Church’s Stoney Creek campus is well worth a visit.
