Belle Isle’s Monthly Cleanups Are Perfect for Kids, Families & Service Groups

If you’re looking for a fun, active, and meaningful way to serve Detroit—bring the kids and join one of Belle Isle Conservancy’s monthly cleanup events.

From May through September, volunteers of all ages are welcome to help Keep Belle Isle Beautiful. There are land-based park cleanups every third Saturday, Friday beach cleanups, and even a “Paddle Against Pollution” kayak cleanup option for adventurous families.

No RSVP is required, and gloves, bags, pickers, and supplies are provided. You’ll meet new people, help preserve one of Detroit’s natural gems, and set a great example for the next generation.

“My 8-year-old loved the kayak cleanup. She said she felt like a ‘nature hero!’” —Local parent via LittleGuide Detroit

These service outings are ideal for church youth groups, scout troops, sports teams, or family day-of-service projects. Just show up, pitch in, and make memories.
