Detroit Red Wings Launch 100-Year Celebration with FanFest and Special Events

One of the most iconic franchises in all of sports is turning 100. The Detroit Red Wings, a cornerstone of the NHL’s Original Six, are launching a yearlong centennial celebration commemorating their legacy of championship hockey, hometown pride, and unforgettable moments.

To mark the occasion, the Red Wings are hosting a four-day Centennial FanFest at Little Caesars Arena, kicking off this summer. The celebration will feature interactive exhibits, player meet-and-greets, vintage memorabilia, and family-friendly experiences designed to honor the team’s storied past and inspire the next generation of fans.

In addition, the team has unveiled a limited-edition Centennial Jersey, blending classic elements from their earliest uniforms with modern styling. Fans can expect to see the Red Wings wear the new jersey during select games throughout the upcoming season.

One of the centerpieces of the centennial is a yearlong exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum, titled “A Century on Ice.” This immersive experience will showcase rare artifacts, behind-the-scenes stories, championship banners, and the evolution of Red Wings fandom through the decades.

Founded in 1926 as the Detroit Cougars, renamed the Falcons, and finally the Red Wings in 1932, the franchise has won 11 Stanley Cups, produced dozens of Hall of Famers, and helped establish Detroit’s nickname as Hockeytown.

The centennial is not just a reflection of past glory, but a celebration of a community that has rallied around its team for a century. Fans, both young and old, are invited to take part in events throughout the 2025–26 season that honor the team’s profound impact on the city, the sport, and the culture of Detroit.
