Pontiac, Michigan is a city in Oakland County, located about 30 miles northwest of Detroit. It was named after the Ottawa chief Pontiac who led a Native American uprising against the British in the late 18th century. The city was incorporated in 1837 and was an important center for the auto industry during the 20th century. Today, Pontiac is a diverse community with a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas. Despite facing economic challenges in recent years, the city has a rich history and continues to be a vibrant part of the metropolitan Detroit area.
