Bemis Elementary in Troy, Brother Rice in Bloomfield Hills and Musson Elementary in Rochester were recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as 2020 National Blue Ribbon Schools.
“I congratulate these schools for earning this distinguished national honor based on (their) overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among students,” State Superintendent Dr. Michael Rice said. “Our Blue Ribbon schools serve as a shining model for every Michigan school striving for greater student achievement.”
The program honors public and nonpublic elementary, middle and high schools where students achieve exceptionally high learning standards. Each school receives a plaque and flag by mail. The award flag gracing a school’s building is a widely recognized symbol of exemplary teaching and learning.
This year, the U.S. Department of Education honored 317 public and 50 non-public schools across the nation at a virtual recognition ceremony Nov. 12 and 13.
