Organizers of one of the most packed events that sweeps through metro Detroit every Labor Day weekend are determined that the show must go on — despite the pandemic.
Arts, Beats & Eats is announcing plans to continue the event in downtown Royal Oak because, as they say, “the beats must go on.”

A press event will be held later today to announce the local musicians participating in what’s being described as a series of virtual shows and drive-in concerts.
Event producers say they’ll also drive the “eats” to Royal Oak and beyond during Labor Day weekend. Food trucks are anticipated.

“The Beats Go On,” aims to host 400 local performers and generate up to half a million dollars shared with area musicians who are struggling without gigs.
“We just want to take the resources of our event and our promotional partners to continue the spirit of not only art, music and food, but to make an impact on people that have participated in the past and are in significant need right now,” organizer Jon Witz told Freep.com.
In addition to virtual shows and food trucks, visitors can buy $30 tickets to watch shows from their cars at Main and Sixth Streets in downtown Royal Oak.
