There is still time to help health-care workers and hard-hit restaurants in the Detroit area through a double-duty initiative.
Rescue Detroit Restaurants/Feed Healthcare Heroes is raising money to serve healthy meals prepared by top local eateries to those on the medical front lines.
The effort is a partnership between the Detroit Free Press and the Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers.
As of Monday afternoon, the campaign had raised nearly $150,000 online. That’s enough to give away almost 7,000 meals, instead of the original target of 5,000.
By passing the $100,000 goal, Rescue Detroit Restaurants/Feed Healthcare Heroes has brought on 10 new restaurants to make the meals: Balkan House, Chartreuse, Karl’s, Lady of the House, Magnet, Norma G’s, the Peterboro, Takoi, Voyager and Wright & Company.
