New Detroit non-profit helps low-income homeowners with free emergency home repairs
DETROIT, April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Handyman Ministries, a new 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in metro Detroit, will launch the 40 Homes in 40 Days initiative as part of the historic EACH evangelical outreach campaign.
EACH, or “Everyone a Chance to Hear,” is a collective of more than 500 metro Detroit area churches and Christian organizations that are working together as one body of believers to spread the message of Jesus Christ through community service. As part of this unprecedented community outreach, Handyman Ministries has pledged to help 40 low-income residential homeowners with needed home repairs over the next forty days beginning on Monday, April 25 in Detroit. All materials and labor for every job will be donated, with no expense to the homeowners. During most home improvement projects (weather permitting), volunteers will also host barbeques for neighbors that will provide more information on community service programs as well as applications for assistance.
“It is truly an honor to partner with EACH to serve the Lord by serving those in need,” commented Timothy Addy, Handyman Ministries executive director. “In these difficult economic times, it is now more important than ever to give back to the community by putting the Gospel message into action. We are only limited to helping as many people as possible by the financial and volunteer support we receive.”
Handyman Ministries is a grass-roots, volunteer-based Christian organization that provides low income residential homeowners with free home maintenance and repair services, energy audits, efficiency upgrades, and home modifications for the physically disabled. EACH is an unprecedented community movement of both city and suburban Christ-centered churches, community organizations, and individual believers that are working together in unity to heal a suffering region through charitable acts and community service. The EACH network will sponsor a 40-day Gospel Saturation & Good Deeds campaign between April 24 and June 3, 2011.
