A recent Utica Community Schools graduate is among only 30 of the nation’s top student artists to have work selected for a prestigious national exhibit.
Lauren Seymour, a 2019 graduate of Eisenhower High School, had her photograph “American Epidemic” selected from approximately 1.5 million individual pieces reviewed for the Advanced Placement Studio Art Exhibit.
“Our entire community congratulates Lauren for her commitment to excellence,” Superintendent Christine Johns said. “Her work demonstrates the creative talent, professionalism and high standards that are nurtured every day by our teachers in UCS classrooms.”
Seymour’s work will be featured in the traveling exhibit which includes stops at the Chauncey Conference Center in New Jersey and the AP Annual Conference in 2020. Her art teacher last school year was Nancy Druia.
Seymour’s selected photo reflected her goal to have others express themselves and not hide what they may consider flaws.
