The Belle Isle Conservancy will host Sunset at the Scott, a fundraising effort to restore the historic Pewabic tile mosaic on the James Scott Memorial Fountain, for the second consecutive year. The event is set to take place on Thursday, Aug. 10from 6p.m. -10p.m. on Belle Isle’s paddock. Guests will enjoy drinks including Stroh’s beer, Don Q Rum and Death’s Door Spirits, and appetizers all while mingling with other attendees under the summer sunset. The evening will also include a VIP lounge with a private bar provided by Wolf Moon Mixers. Pewabic Pottery will Pewabic Street Team mobile mini museum as well as a pop-up shop. Patrons can capture memories at a TapSnap photobooth kiosk where souvenir photos including the Scott Fountain and the Detroit skyline will be available for purchase. Rickshaw Detroit will provide pedi-cab service during the event, with a live DJ set by @djwithajd, DJ Breeze, setting the summer evening mood. Belle Isle SOUP returns to the island on Thursday, Aug. 31 from 5:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. The event is a collaboration between Detroit SOUP, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Belle Isle Conservancy, and will take place at the Belle Isle Cricket Field, near the Belle Isle Casino.
Belle Isle SOUP gives members of the community and beyond an opportunity to submit an event or program proposal for the Island. Select proposals will ultimately present during the event before attendees, who will vote for their favorite proposal. The winner will walk away with the event’s proceeds in order to execute their event or program on Belle Isle Park. Proposals will be accepted until Aug. 11.
The suggested donation is $5 and includes soup, salad and a chance to vote on the project believed to have the greatest impact on the community. Food and beverage donations are also welcome; anyone who donates food or beverage gets 60 seconds to share an update of their choice with the event attendees.

The Belle Isle Aquarium Birthday Party will take place on Saturday, August 19th at the Belle Isle Aquarium from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. The celebration will commemorate the 113th birthday of the historic Albert Kahn designed facility which is currently managed and operated by the Belle Isle Conservancy, and will offer families a chance to win a free kids birthday party booking at the Belle Isle Aquarium, birthday games and treats.
The Belle Isle Conservancy will host the 11th Annual Garden Party on Belle Isle on Tuesday, September 12th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The event will take place in the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory Garden. The Garden Party historically raises funds for projects that benefit both the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory and the Belle Isle Aquarium. This year’s event will begin to raise funds for lighting near the Conservatory. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and a live performance by Ben Sharkey. Tickets range from $50-$500.
